In Ontario, we want to create an environment that supports and rewards innovation. For this to occur, individuals, firms and organizations must be given greater access to the tools they need to transform creative, cutting-edge ideas into everlasting economic advantages. We also want Ontarians to embrace this challenge and share our goal in making their chosen home a leading, innovation-based economy.

Actively engaging our innovative thinkers is critical to developing a well-integrated, well-coordinated strategy that will drive Ontario's future prosperity. With this in mind, I created the Ontario Research and Innovation Council, an advisory body that will provide me with the expert advice needed to develop an ambitious innovation agenda for the province.

Through the council's hard work and dedication, I am confident we will create a culture of innovation that will harness our boundless creative potential and provide a quality of life that is second to none.
