BackgrounderNovember 24, 2006 LANGUAGE INTERPRETER SERVICES FOR VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCEThe Ontario government is investing $2.1 million in 10 organizations to provide spoken-language interpretation services available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in over 60 languages.
Social, health and legal services and associated agencies that receive these grants deliver interpretation services at no cost. . Women use the interpreter services when dealing with police officers, Crown attorneys, the Victim/Witness Assistance Program, the Partner Assault Response Program, and probation and parole officers. Greater Toronto Area (also serving parts of Northern Ontario)
