ORDER OF ONTARIO APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED

TORONTO — The Honourable James K. Bartleman, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, released the names of the most recent appointments to the Order of Ontario earlier today.

“The men and women who are being honoured are stellar examples of the best and the brightest in this province,” said His Honour. “They are exemplary role models for us all.” 

Twenty-nine people have been named to the Order of Ontario. A black tie investiture ceremony will be held on Wednesday, December 20th at Queen’s Park in their honour. During the ceremony, the Honourable James K. Bartleman will invest the new appointees.

Named to the Order of Ontario are:

Deborah Ellis of Simcoe

Appointees are being recognized for their contributions in a variety of areas, including: philanthropy and fundraising; engineering; public administration; business; community service; science; social science; communications; broadcasting and journalism; athletics; medicine and law.

The following two appointees from previous years will also be invested with their medal on December 20th:

Margaret Zeidler of Toronto

The Order of Ontario recognizes the highest level of individual excellence and achievement in any field.  The first Order of Ontario ceremony took place in 1987. To date 404 recipients have been named to the Order.
Nominations are made by the general public. An Advisory Council, chaired by the Chief Justice of Ontario, reviews the nominations and makes recommendations to the Lieutenant Governor in Council regarding appointments to the Order.
