This is a quick, convenient and secure way to access Ministry of Transportation products and services online.

This website will allow you to:

• Renew your licence plate validation sticker for one or two years for passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles (car, small truck, or van), motorcycles and snowmobiles;
• Purchase and receive an electronic driver or vehicle abstract;
• Order a personalized licence plate for a passenger vehicle, commercial vehicle or motorcycle (except limited-speed motorcycles);
• Order a Used Vehicle Information Package (UVIP), which provides an Ontario history of a specific vehicle.

We only accept payment by credit card (VISA, Mastercard, American Express) for online orders. To learn about channels that accept other payment methods, please refer to other ways to access MTO services(see Q6) .

• You may need to increase your screen resolution (for example to 1024 x 768 pixels) to ensure screens are properly displayed. Press here to find out how to increase your screen resolution(see Q21).
• You will need a printer to print your transaction receipt.
• You will need a valid credit card. We accept MasterCard, VISA and American Express.

Privacy:

• The Ontario government is committed to ensuring the privacy of your personal information. Please note that some non-standard browsers may retain/cache your personal information. To prevent this, always use the 'Next' and 'Previous' buttons on the pages, and close your browser to end the session.
• Your privacy will be protected as required by the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
• If you are using this service in a public place (e.g. library or Internet cafe), make sure to keep your information safe. Do not leave your computer unattended while the transaction is in progress.

Here is what you will need to get started:

For Plate Renewal:

• Your licence plate number
• Depending on the information on file, you may also need to provide:

Your vehicle inspection certificate number
Your insurance company name
Your insurance policy number
Your odometer reading

For Driver or Vehicle Abstracts:

• Your driver's licence or registrant identification number
• If you don't have a driver's licence or registrant identification number, you can provide your name and address
• Depending on the type of abstract you want, you will have to provide the driver's licence, licence plate number, or vehicle identification number of the person, licence plate or vehicle you want the information about.
• Adobe Reader. Download a free version of Adobe Reader

For a Personalized Plate:

• Your driver's licence or registrant identification number

For a Used Vehicle Information Package:

• Your driver's licence or registrant identification number
• If you don't have a driver's licence or registrant identification number, you can provide your name and address
• Vehicle identification number or licence plate number of the vehicle
