ServiceOntario address change

Information about Changing your Address with the Ministry of Transportation

All licensed drivers and vehicle owners in Ontario are required by law, under the Highway Traffic Act, to notify the Ministry of Transportation within six days of any change of current address. It is important that the Ministry have your current address for any direct communication with you.

Changing your address online is a quick, convenient and secure way to advise the Ministry of Transportation that your address information has changed.

With this transaction, you can change your address on your Driver's Licence and Vehicle Registration. A change of address will apply to both your Driver's Licence and Vehicle Registration.

There is no charge for this service.

Other Address Change Options

If you do not wish to change your address using this service, please choose one of the links below for information about other address change options.

  • You can visit a Driver and Vehicle Licence Issuing office.
  • You can visit one of the ServiceOntario Kiosks. They are similar to automated teller machines and provide extended hours of service.
  • You can mail in your change of address in writing or by completing a change of address stub from your Vehicle Registration or original Driver's Licence carrier document.

What You Will Need to Change Your Address

Before you change your address online, you will need:

  • Your Driver's Licence or Registrant Identification Number (RIN).
  • Your postal code last reported to the Ministry of Transportation.
  • Your new address including street number, street name, apartment number or lot, concession (if applicable), township and rural route, city and postal code. The Ministry requires a complete residential address--a post office box alone is not sufficient.
