Honourable Donna Cansfield

Donna Cansfield was elected as
a member of Provincial Parliament in October 2003 to serve the residents of
Etobicoke Centre. A respected member of the Liberal caucus, Donna was appointed
by the Premier in May 2006 to serve as Ontario's Minister of Transportation.
She is the first female Minister of Transportation.
Previously, Donna served as the Minister of Energy, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Energy and Chair of the government's Conservation Action Team.
As Minister of Energy, she worked to implement the government's energy plan to build new, cleaner generation capacity, maximize Ontario's existing generation and transmission assets, and create a culture of conservation in this province.
She also introduced Bill 21, the first of its kind in Canada demonstrating the McGuinty government's commitment to energy conservation. The Energy Conservation Responsibility Act 2006 was passed by the legislature in February 2006.
Prior to her election in 2003, she served her constituents as a school trustee for 15 years, including serving as Chair of the Toronto District School Board.
Representing a riding with Canada's largest proportion of senior citizens, Donna has served as a director of the Dorothy Ley Hospice and been active in the health care area. She has continued to work with her constituents to recognize key social goals and formed partnerships to achieve them.
Donna resides in Etobicoke with her husband, Bill. They have two children, Jennie and D'Arcy, who live and work in Ontario.
