Francophone Tourism Conference, Le grand Rendez-vous: Follow the wave towards Francophone tourism in Ontario, took place May 4 – 6, 2006, in Sudbury, Ontario.  The conference provided an opportunity for tourism operators and associations to deepen their understanding of francophone markets, create partnerships, and learn about experience development and marketing activities currently taking place throughout the province.

2006 Festivals and Events Ontario Conference Highlights "NEW"

The 2006 Festivals and Events Ontario Conference brought together over 250 festivals and events professional and industry partners and provided an opportunity for delegates exchange ideas regarding producing, coordinating and sustaining festivals and events. In addition to the dynamic program line-up, Certified Festival and Event Executive (CFEE) Courses were offered through the International Festivals and Events Association (IFEA). Ontario Culinary Tourism StrategyNEW

The strategy includes an action plan to develop regional culinary products and experiences, strengthen partnerships, invest in research and raise quality standards for culinary tourism in the province.


Francophone Tourism Product Development Guide NEW

The “Francophone Tourism Product Development Guide” outlines ways in which operators can develop their product offerings to reflect historic aspects of Ontario’s rich francophone heritage including Champlain and Les Voyageurs and attract the francophone market.


 

2005 Ontario Aboriginal Tourism Conference Summary

The 2005 Ontario Aboriginal Tourism Conference “Catching the Spirit of 2010” featured inspirational speakers and workshops presenters and attracted aboriginal tourism operators and industry partners from across Ontario.


2005 Festivals and Events Ontario Conference Highlights

The 2005 Festivals and Events Ontario Conference was a great opportunity to learn and network with provincial festival and event industry professionals. The annual trade show also featured some of the latest services, product and entertainment options available to festival and event organizers.


Pageantry Template Resource Manual

The manual is intended to guide event organizers and tourism stakeholders through the process that broadens the awareness and understanding of the economic impact of festivals and events in their communities.


Sport Tourism Planning Template

The template is designed to provide communities with a step-by-step planning framework on how to become a sport tourism destination. The template assists communities to quantify their sport tourism-related assets and organizational capacity.


A Strategy for Wine and Culinary Tourism in Ontario – Executive Summary

The Ministry of Tourism and the Wine Council of Ontario commissioned the preparation of the Ontario Wine and Culinary Tourism Strategy and Action Plan in 2001 to undertake a review of existing wine and culinary tourism activities, identify areas for growth and make recommendations with respect to an action plan that will develop wine and culinary tourism in Ontario.


 

Market Analysis for Horticultural Tourism in Ontario

A high-level analysis of the feasibility of developing horticultural tourism destinations in Ontario was completed in 2001. This report presents the results of the study and provides recommendations for next steps. Much of the analysis presented in the report was based upon a review of available research and stakeholder interviews. Contact the Investment and Development to obtain a copy.

Partnering for the Future: Public Private Partnerships in Tourism Development

The Investment and Development Office prepared guidelines for private-sector involvement in Ontario’s publicly owned tourism assets. The guidelines have been prepared to assist project managers to identify needs and opportunities in order to implement public-private partnerships. Study for Funding in Support of Ontario’s Festival and Events: Final Report

The Investment and Development Office commissioned the Study of Funding in Support of Ontario’s Festivals and Events in 2001 to analyze the potential of Ontario’s festivals and events as economic drivers in communities, and to determine the role of private and public support. Ontario Tourism Investment Climate Study Final Report

The Ontario Tourism Investment Climate Study was commissioned by the Investment and Development Office in 2001 to assess the investment climate for tourism in Ontario and to make recommendations for government’s role in supporting private sector. Technology Strategy for Ontario Gateways Business Case Study

This report highlights the potential use of emerging technologies to build new dynamic visitor experiences for the future. The strategy provides examples of visitor centres, new concepts and case studies from around the world on how emerging technologies are being used in the delivery of tourism information and public education.
