A
Kit for
Regulated Non-Municipal Drinking Water System Owners
(Drinking-Water Systems Regulation
O. Reg. 170/03)
Attention:Owners and Operators
of Non-Municipal Year-Round Residential Drinking Water Systems
This NEW Kit for Regulated Non-Municipal
Drinking Water System Owners is applicable to non-municipal
year-round residential systems. You will find links to the kit
contents below.
Please Note: The
requirements in this Guide may be subject to change given the
Ministry’s intention to propose technical amendments to O. Reg.
170/03 by the end of June 2005, as outlined in the Ministry’s
EBR Posting – “Broad Policy Proposal for the Regulation of Drinking
Water Systems in Ontario”. More information on this proposal
can be found on the EBR Registry at http://www.ene.gov.on.ca/envregistry/025314ep.htm.
The kit has been updated to include:
- Amendments filed in June 2005 and in June and December 2004
to the Drinking-Water Systems Regulation (O.Reg. 170/03)
- Changes brought about by The Certification of Drinking-Water
Systems Operators and Water Quality Analysts Regulation (O.
Reg. 128/04), and
- Changes introduced through The Drinking-Water Testing Services
Regulation (O.Reg. 248/03).
This kit is not intended for owners and operators of systems
serving designated facilities. If your system serves a designated
facility as defined by the Drinking-Water Systems Regulation
(O. Reg. 170/03), please refer directly to the regulation.
This kit is not intended for owners and operators of non-residential
and seasonal residential drinking water systems. These systems
are regulated by the new regulation for non-residential and
non-municipal seasonal residential systems that do not serve
designated facilities (Ontario
Regulation 252/05).
The kit has also been reorganized so that you can more easily
understand how the Drinking-Water Systems Regulation (O. Reg.
170/03) affects you. This kit will give you the information
you need to:
- understand the purpose of the Drinking-Water Systems Regulation;
- decide if the regulation applies to you and your drinking
water system;
- learn what exactly your regulatory responsibilities may
be for your category of drinking water system; and
- determine how to get started in meeting these responsibilities.
Begin by reading Guide #1. It will help you get started and
guide you through the kit. You can link directly to each of
the guides in the Kit below. Use Guide #1 to determine if Guide
#2 applies to your system.
We would welcome your feedback on this new version of the kit.
