Drinking Water Surveillance Program Executive Summaries, 1993-1995
The Drinking Water Surveillance Program (DWSP) for Ontario monitors drinking water quality at municipal water treatment facilities. The program began in April 1986 at 22 municipal water treatment facilities in Ontario. Currently 135 systems are being monitored. A comprehensive database on drinking water quality is maintained to: report an alert when an Ontario Drinking Water Objective is exceeded; provide definitions of contaminant levels and trends in support of setting standards; provide a background for remedial action; assess treatment efficiency of plant processes.
