October 5, 2006 ATTORNEY GENERAL ANNOUNCES JUDICIAL APPOINTMENTS
New Judges To Preside In Windsor And Chatham
TORONTO Attorney General Michael Bryant announced today the appointment of Gregory Campbell and Stephen Fuerth as provincial judges to the Ontario Court of Justice, effective October 18, 2006. "I am confident that these two accomplished individuals will contribute significantly to the administration of justice during their years on the bench," said Bryant. "These appointments reflect the high standards of the Ontario Court of Justice." Mr. Justice Campbell was called to the Bar in 1991. He was most recently a sole practitioner with a broad range of litigation experience. Prior to that, he practised law with the firm Paroian Courey Cohen & Houston in Windsor. He has practised in all levels of court and administrative tribunals. Mr. Justice Campbell has been a trial advocacy instructor, and has done pro bono work for individuals and organizations. He has also been a bar admission course lecturer and instructor at the University of Windsor, Faculty of Law. Mr. Justice Fuerth was called to the Bar in 1978, and was a partner with the firm of Benoit, Van Raay, Spisani, Fuerth & Quaglia in Chatham-Kent, practising primarily in family law. He was appointed a member of the Consent and Capacity Board in 2004. He has acted as a federal prosecutor and defence counsel in criminal matters. Mr. Justice Fuerth has also appeared before several boards and tribunals, and has been a family law mediator. He was a founding director of Legal Assistance Kent, a legal aid funded community clinic in Chatham and has been president of the Kent Law Association. Chief Justice Brian W. Lennox has assigned Mr. Justice Campbell to preside in Windsor and Mr. Justice Fuerth to preside in Chatham, effective October 18, 2006. Bryant has appointed 59 judges since the McGuinty government was sworn in on October 23, 2003. - 30 -
