June 30, 2006 TRENTON – The McGuinty government today released a report with recommendations to improve the governance of Quinte Health Care Corporation, prepared by R. Scott Rowand, former President and CEO of Hamilton Health Science Corporation. “I commend Mr. Rowand for his thorough and thoughtful work in preparing this report,” said Health and Long-Term Care Minister George Smitherman. “Over the coming months, he will discuss his findings with local community groups and health care partners.” The report, New Beginnings: An Assessment of Governance and Related Matters at Quinte Health Care Corporation – for the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, includes a number of recommendations to enhance the governance of Quinte Health Care Corporation (QHC) including :
Last November, at the request of Minister Smitherman, R. Scott Rowand was appointed to conduct an assessment of the governance at Quinte Health Care Corporation. He is currently an Assistant Professor at McMaster University, and is the former President of the Association of Canadian Teaching Hospitals and former Chair of the Ontario Council of Teaching Hospitals.
