Your Health Care Team – Focus on Nursing

Nurses – a key part of the team strengthening health care in Ontario

Nurses are vital to Ontario’s health care system. They are highly qualified and are a key part of the health care team.

Nurses in Ontario – recognizing their contribution

A public education campaign is being launched that focuses on retaining and attracting nurses. The campaign seeks to debunk myths and stereotypes about the nursing profession. At the same time the communication to Ontarians will acknowledge the significant and growing contribution of our nurses in the delivery of health care.

The education campaign is conducted in partnership with the College of Nurses of Ontario, Ontario Nurses’ Association, Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario and Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario.

Commitment to Health Care

The nursing campaign is the first phase of a larger health human resources strategy that will provide the right number and mix of health care professionals, when and where they are needed, to serve Ontarians.

The strategy focuses on retaining nurses, doctors and other health care professionals, bringing back those who have left as well as attracting new people. The goal is to make Ontario, its communities and its people, the employer of choice.
