Prenatal HIV Screening Program

Information and Communications Products for Healthcare Providers

The MOHLTC's Prenatal HIV Screening Program encourages the increased uptake of HIV testing during pregnancy. Testing can dramatically reduce the risk of an HIV-positive woman transmitting the virus to her baby.

Health care providers have an important role to play in helping their patients understand the importance of HIV testing in relation to pregnancy. We recommend that health care providers in Ontario discuss and offer HIV antibody testing to all pregnant women and those planning pregnancies. This web section includes brochures, guidelines and other materials that will help you communicate with your patients.
