Physician IT Program

Put Physician IT to work. For your practice, your patients and you.

For many doctors, trying to balance a busy practice while still enhancing patient care proves to be quite challenging. That's where information technology (IT) will help. Implementing IT products and services into Ontario doctors' practices not only enhances the quality of patient care, it also improves day-to-day practice management, and ultimately the efficiency of our health care system.

The Physician IT Program includes :

Clinical Management Systems (CMS)
Clinical Management Systems (CMS) products that have been approved as meeting specified security, technology, and functionality standards for managing electronic medical records and practice management information;

Network Services
Network Services provided by Smart Systems for Health Agency (SSHA) to provide doctors with secure Internet connections over a secure network which will connect all doctors in the province

OntarioMD.ca
OntarioMD.ca, an Internet portal that provides free access for all physicians to products and services, including online access to medical journals, a drug database and breaking medical news and alerts;

Primary Care IT Funding Plan
A Primary Care IT Funding Plan designed to assist eligible primary care physicians to acquire information technology;

Transition Support Program
A Transition Support Program designed to help physicians acquire and use information technology, including access to Transition Specialists and workshops and tools such as best practice guidelines and checklists;

The Physician IT Program was developed by the ePhysician Project, a partnership between the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the Ontario Medical Association to support the transformation of the primary care sector by enabling and promoting the adoption of high quality, integrated information technology.
