Online Certificate Application

Welcome to the Office of the Registrar General's Online Certificate Application website. You can apply for birth, death or marriage certificates for events that have been registered in Ontario.

For applications sent to us electronically, processing time is 15 business days (shipping time is included for birth but not for marriage and death).

In certain cases, you may be required to print, sign and mail your application (for example, applicant is not paying by credit card, or supporting documentation is required to be attached to the application).

Birth
birth You may apply for a birth certificate, a certified copy of birth registration or a search. Guarantor information must be provided for subjects aged 9 and older. For online Birth Certificate applications (only), we guarantee that your birth certificate will be delivered to you within 15 business days or your money back. Marriage
marriage You may apply for a marriage certificate, a certified copy of a marriage registration or a search. Visit Service Standards for processing time.  
Death
death You may apply for a death certificate, a certified copy of statement of death or a search.

You may submit up to five applications in one session. For example, you may apply for a birth, marriage or death certificate for different persons (subjects) providing you meet eligibility requirements. To apply online, or to complete and print your application(s), select Begin Application.


After you have submitted your online application, you may use our Online Status Inquiry System to track the status of your application(s). Status will be made available by the next business day. To learn more about the Online Status Inquiry, visit: https://www.orgforms.gov.on.ca/status.
