Provincial Parent Board

The ministry is inviting parents to join the new Provincial Parent Board.

The Provincial Parent Board will help parents get involved in the education system. The board has two key roles:

  • Advice: To advise the Minister of Education on how to increase parent involvement. It also helps the minister develop effective programs and supports for parent involvement - locally, at the board level, and across the province.
  • Monitoring: To find out how involved parents are by monitoring:
    • Parent involvement levels
    • The implementation of programs that support parent involvement
    • The effectiveness of parent involvement programs

The board will have 20 members from across the province. Each is a parent with at least one child in the public school system. Together, they will provide a strong voice for all parents on the future of education in Ontario.
