The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, Student Support Branch requires an individual to liaise with and advise lending institutions and collecting agencies regarding Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) legislation and its administration.

Duties Will Include: advising and explaining the OSAP legislation, policies and procedures to lending institutions and service providers by responding to verbal and written enquiries, analyzing problem accounts and recommending appropriate course of action; processing transfer payment requests utilizing financial databases and assisting in the review and analysis of branch budgets; providing group leadership to junior staff of the Finance Unit.

Work Location: 189 Red River Road, 4th Floor, Thunder Bay, North West Region

QUALIFICATIONS: good knowledge of OSAP and the procedures of lending institutions and National Student Loan Service Centres; good understanding of accounting and budgeting procedures and practices; demonstrated knowledge of fundamental accounting principles and a sound understanding of accrual accounting practices; knowledge of policies and procedures regarding Management Board standards and reporting requirements of the Income Tax Act; ability to problem solve to determine over/under expenditures; good analytical and researching skills to investigate and review financial data entries; good organizational skills to prioritize own work; strong oral and written communication skills; good interpersonal skills to deal tactfully with client groups; demonstrated knowledge of personal computers and related software (MS Word, Excel).
