  • Government funding for public education in Ontario 2005-06: $17.2 billion.
  • Administration: Ontario’s schools are administered by 72 district school boards and 33 school authorities. "School authorities" consist of geographically isolated boards and hospital school boards. School Boards are divided as follows:
  • There are 4,010 elementary and 870 secondary schools in Ontario (2003-04).
  • Number of teachers: 112,235.68, consisting of 71,274.40 elementary and 40,961.28 secondary. (2003-04)
  • Number of administrators (principals and vice-principals): 7,169.56, consisting of 5,281.84 elementary and 1,887.72 secondary. (2003-04)
  • Number of students in 2003-04: 2,129,742.
