Doing Business with the Ontario Government

Ontario Business Connects
OBC is the government's initiative to simplify and streamline registration, renewal and reporting processes for Ontario businesses. The OBC website provides business clients with the opportunity to register or renew their business, change their business information, apply for provincial and federal programs, and subscribe to a business information service.

  • Register/Renew service -- Register or renew a business name with the Ontario government. You can also apply for the following programs: Retail Sales Tax Vendor Permit (RST), Employer Health Tax (EHT), Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB).
  • Change of Business Information service -- Existing businesses can update address and other important business information as well as close accounts with several Ontario and federal government programs free of charge.
  • MyBIS -- Subscribe to an e-mail service to receive customized links to business information based on your interests.

Electronic Personal Property Security Registration (PPSR)
PPSR records and reproduces information concerning personal property that has been used to secure loans. Businesses large and small rely on PPSR to maintain records on secured assets other than real estate. Online submissions to the PPSR database are registered and accessible to clients within 24 hours.

Electronic Real Property Registration and Searches
a group of databases offering access to more than four million property records is available in 39 of the province's 54 land registry offices. In addition, an automated land registration system eliminates the need for personal attendance at a Land Registry Office. Documents are created, submitted and maintained in electronic form. Access and Privacy Office
advises the government on issues pertaining to privacy and freedom of information legislation, and develops related policy.
