What is the Home Buyers' Plan (HBP)?

The program allows for a tax-free withdrawal from a Registered Retirement Savings Plan to build or buy a qualifying home.You can find more information about the Home Buyer’s Plan on the Canada Revenue Agency website.

Where is my nearest Land Registry Office and what services does it provide?

Land Registry Office provides land registration and database search services. You can find the nearest Land Registry office on the Ministry of Consumer and Business Services website.

Who is responsible for preparing my property tax bill?

Your local municipality is responsible for the preparation of your tax bill. Please contact the finance/treasury department of your local municipality. The phone number is located in the blue pages of your telephone directory.

The province introduced a standardized tax bill for use by municipalities which was designed to ensure that each property taxpayer in the province receives a clear and concise summary of his or her property tax responsibility. With this standard tax bill format, taxpayers can now more easily compare tax treatment between jurisdictions.

Where can I get a copy of the Building Code?

Copies of the Ontario Building Code may be obtained online from from the Government of Ontario's e-Laws website. You can also order a copy of The Ontario Building Code from Orderline, Publications Ontario or the Ottawa Courthouse Building.
