The Ontario Government offers a wide range of programs and services for children and youth. These services promote healthy growth and child development, protect children from abuse and neglect, place children for adoption and ensure your children get the best possible start in life.

Health & Disability

  • Children's Health
    Learn about children's health services including the Autism Program, Healthy Babies Healthy Children Program and the Preschool Speech and Language Program.

  • Children with Special Needs
    This Web page is intended to assist parents and caregivers seeking information about services funded and/or provided by the Ontario government for children with physical, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, mental health disorders, medical problems or those who need specialized services to participate in daily living activities.

  • HealthyOntario.com
    The Ontario's Consumer Health Information Portal provides information on current children's health issues and other important health programs and services.

  • Telehealth
    Telehealth Ontario is a free, confidential telephone service you can call to get health advice or general health information from a registered nurse.

  • Canadian Health Network
    Search for information on children's developmental health from birth to age 12 on a host of topics including play, learning, behaviour, parenting, nutrition, safety, immunization, illness and special needs.

  • Elementary and Secondary Education
    Find out how the education system works, look up public and private schools, school boards and commissions, find out about high school equivalency certificates and more.

  • Find a School or School Board in Ontario
    The School and Board Finder provides contact information for Ontario schools and school boards. You can perform a simple search on school and board names or an advanced search that allows you to also include city, language, level and type in your search criteria.

  • Elementary/Secondary Curriculum
    The Ministry of Education sets curriculum policy and defines what teachers are required to teach and students are expected to learn in each grade and subject. A consistent, province-wide curriculum is thereby ensured.

  • Child Protection Services in Ontario
    The government's role in child protection is to fund, legislate and monitor the child welfare system.

  • Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect
    Find out the signs of abuse and neglect and find out about your responsibilities to report a child in need of protection.

  • Children's aid societies
    The children's aid society (CAS), also known as Family and Children's Services (F&CS), is a non-profit agency working in local communities to provide help and support to children and their families.

Adoption

  • Adoption in Ontario
    Adoption is the process through which a child becomes a part of a new family. It is intended to provide the child with permanence and security.

  • Foster Care
    Community agencies, licensed by the province, provide foster homes for children who can no longer live with their families. A foster home provides parent-model care for four or fewer children.

Youth Justice

  • Youth Justice Services
    The Ministry of Children and Youth Services provides youth justice services to youth, aged 12 to 17 at the time of their offence, who are charged with or convicted of criminal or provincial offences.

  • The Office of the Children's Lawyer
    The Office of the Children's Lawyer is a law office in the Ministry of the Attorney General which delivers programs in the administration of justice on behalf of children under the age of 18 with respect to their personal and property rights.

  • Where Do I Stand: A Child's Guide to Separation and Divorce
    This is a pamphlet for children whose parents separate or divorce. Separation or divorce is the result of problems between parents.
