Saskatchewan's location in Canada's prime barley growing region and our abundant fresh air and water makes it an exceptional location for malting plants. Saskatchewan has some of the greatest barley-growing soil in the world. Hulless, feed and malting barley are just some of the varieties grown here.

In 2005, 4.8 M acres of barley were planted producing 5,345,100 M tonnes an increase of over 300,00 tonnes compared to 2004.
