The high quality oats that Saskatchewan produces is in demand for the thoroughbred horse industry in the United States. Oats is primarily used for livestock feed or breakfast foods.

In 2005 2 M ac were seeded in Saskatchewan, producing almost 1.7 M tonnes. In 2003, Saskatchewan exported over 420,000 tonnes to the United States.
