Saskatchewan continues to be a leader in cereal crop production across the country. Saskatchewan produces both spring and winter wheat and supplies 10 per cent of the world's total exported wheat, and is Canada's most important grain-producing region.

In 2004, 4.6 M acres were seeded to durum with a value of over $ 552 M, and over 10 M acres were seeded to spring and winter wheat, with a value of over $932 M.
