Many flax products and ingredients for the animal and human food markets are under development. This is good news for Saskatchewan flax producers, who produce high-quality flax allowing Canada to dominate world flax production. Currently there are 10 flax marketing companies in Saskatchewan.

In 2005 1.6 M acres were seeded to flax up from 1.4 M acres in 2004. Production in 2005 also increased from 355,600 tonnes to over 880,000 tonnes.
