In January 2006 Minister Wowchuk appointed the Creating Opportunities Committee to seek the input of rural and northern Manitobans about opportunities to add value to agricultural products and the natural, cultural and physical resources that Manitoba possesses.

The Committee was asked to make recommendations to government, communities and industry on how each can support the development of these opportunities.
