Snowmobiling Winter without borders

Do you long to speed through miles and miles of snow, glide over frozen lakes, explore the immense boreal forest or travel in complete safety to wonderful places that cannot be reached by car? If so, snowmobiling in Québec is for you! The two to four metres (6.5 to 13 ft.) of snow that fall each year, the 33,700 km (20,900 mi.) of trails and the possibility of travelling for days and days while being practically alone with nature make Québec the most popular destination in the world for snowmobiling.A Québec invention
When Joseph-Armand Bombardier, a Québecer, invented the snowmobile in 1922, he had no idea just how important his machine would become. The main method of transportation for many Native people, the snowmobile, perfectly adapted to Québec winters, is now all the rage with outdoor lovers! The most committed, usually grouped together in clubs, organize popular and colourful competitions and events all season long. One of the best known is, without a doubt, the Grand prix Ski-doo de Valcourt. You can also visit the Musée J. Armand Bombardier in this same town.Snowy routes
You can enjoy the sport of snowmobiling throughout Québec. The most popular regions include the Laurentides, Lanaudière and Mauricie, Québec City and Charlevoix, Saguenay—Lac-Saint-Jean, Chaudière Appalaches, Gaspésie and, in western Québec, Abitibi-Témiscamingue and Outaouais. These regions produce detailed maps of their snowmobile trail networks. Along the marked trails, snowmobilers can find everything they need: fuel, repairs and rentals, heated shelters, lodging and restaurants. For more information on the cost of access passes and on insurance, check out the Québec Federation of Snowmobile Clubs' Web site.
Go snowmobiling and take control of winter!
