Moving

If you are covered by the Health Insurance Plan and move, either within Québec or outside Québec, you must notify the Régie de l'assurance maladie as soon as possible.

Moving within Québec

If you move within Québec, you must inform the Régie of your and your children's new address. It is very important for the Régie to have the current address of each family member on file, so that documents concerning them can be sent to the right address and on time.

If you are moving because of a divorce or a separation, or because you have a new spouse or new employment, you must notify the Régie by telephone or in person during office hours.

Such a change may make you ineligible for the prescription drug insurance plan by which you are covered. The Régie invites you to make sure you're covered by the right plan.

Reporting a change of address via the Internet

You can report a change of address through the Service québécois de changement d'adresse. This service enables you to inform the following six departments and agencies of your new address at the same time:

  • the Directeur général des élections du Québec;
  • the ministère de l'Emploi et de la Solidarité sociale du Québec;
  • the Régie de l'assurance maladie du Québec;
  • the Régie des rentes du Québec;
  • Revenu Québec;
  • the Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec.

Please note that the Régie does not reply to change of address requests received by e-mail.

Reporting a change of address by telephone

You can also report a change of address by calling the Régie during office hours. The Régie will take note of your new address and forward it to the Directeur général des élections, which will update the information concerning you on the permanent electoral list, if your name is on that list.

Moving outside Québec

Refer to the page on departure from Québec to find out whether you remain eligible for the Health Insurance Plan.
