Eastmain 1-A Powerhouse construction and Rupert River diversion
project - Issue of the certificate of authorization
The issue of this certificate follows the favourable and
unanimous recommendation made on October 31st of this year by the
Provincial Review Committee (COMEX).
Of the
97 recommendations made by COMEX, 14 conditions deal with the
design of the structures, 35 are related to the biophysical
environment, and 47 deal with the social environment and the safety
of the structures and people. Lastly, one condition concerns the
follow-up on the cumulative impacts.
"The government's authorization takes up in full the
97 recommendations made by COMEX to ensure the project's
integration on the territory while permitting the protection of the
social and natural environment," pointed out Claude Béchard.
