Launching of the Politique nationale de la ruralité 2007-2014 (National rurality policy 2007-2014)

Through this policy, the government is making available to rural communities flexible and adapted means of intervention totaling $280 million, $238 million of which will be managed entirely by the RCMs.

The Government of Québec and the partners of rural communities have reiterated their wish to see the measures of this policy given tangible form as soon as possible in the field, particularly with respect to the signing of memoranda of understanding with the rural pacts. The Minister of Municipal Affairs and Regions will see to the signing of these memoranda of understanding with each of the RCMs by the end of March 2007 in order to make them operational effective from the start of the upcoming fiscal year.
