Making an exploratory trip to Québec

If you apply for immigration as an entrepreneur, it is strongly recommended that you make an exploratory trip to Québec. Although it is not compulsory, an exploratory trip will enable you, depending on the program component selected, to take charge of your business project and further develop the main components of your business plan, and to contact a Québec entrepreneur directly in order to initiate the procedure to acquire a business. You will then be better equipped to defend your project during the selection interview. In fact, your project’s credibility and feasibility are factors that will influence your selection as an entrepreneur. Stack the deck in your favour!

Ideally, you should combine this trip with participation in a trade fair in your target economic sector, networking activities or a seminar offered by the CSGA, as well as meeting with an economic advisor. Once you’ve scheduled this trip, it becomes possible and to your advantage to have the selection interview in Montréal.

Obviously, you should organize and prepare your trip several months in advance. You may contact the CSGA to let them know of your intentions and plan your trip. Where applicable, you may also contact the immigration office abroad where you submitted your application to arrange to have your selection interview in Montréal.
