Immigrating to Québec to work

Selection and admission of candidates

Through an agreement reached with Canada, Québec is solely responsible for selecting immigrants who want to settle on its territory to work. The candidates are selected by the Québec immigration office or the workers selection directorate that covers their country. Canada then grants them a permanent residence visa if they meet the Canadian health and safety conditions.

Candidates are selected by Québec based on their training, their work experience, their age, their knowledge of the French language and their socio-economic ability to adapt. The candidate’s professional skills must be in line with the current Québec labour market employment opportunities or show a high adaptation or professional mobility potential.

Candidates must also possess sufficient funds to support themselves, as well as the family members accompanying them, during at least the first three months of residence in Québec.

  USEFUL INFORMATION
