Adapting to the realities and values of the Québec job market

As you search for a job, you will try out new approaches and use services that may be very different from those you are familiar with.

You may need help and guidance to facilitate your transition and adaptation to the job market, to understand the mechanisms, rules, values and cultural codes and how the job market works. See also A few characteristics and values of the Québec job market

This guidance will also help you find out about the vocational and technical training offered in Québec and to prepare you to properly use public employment services.

The Immigration-Québec services and community organizations serving new immigrants can help you in various ways:

  • to evaluate your needs in terms of adapting to the job market
  • to support your efforts to adapt and obtain information, steer you to the appropriate resources and follow-up with you in your integration efforts.

Community organizations also offer the following services:

  • practical information on how the job market functions: laws and regulations, job market customs, etc.
  • information on the educational system
  • introduction to the tools and skills required to look for a job in the Québec context
  • possibility of occupational matching to help you better understand the Québec context for practising your profession or trade.

INFORMATION: Contact the Immigration-Québec service for the region where you have settled.
