Sponsored refugee
Sponsored refugees are welcomed and given financial support by a group or
an organization that has agreed to take charge of them by signing a collective
sponsorship undertaking. For more information and definitions, see the section
Humanitarian
immigration – Collective sponsorship.
Your 5-step procedure!
Are you a sponsored refugee? A typical immigration procedure is proposed,
based on the experience of other refugees. Take a moment to read it. It will
give you a general idea of the different steps that may apply to your situation.
-
Being selected in Québec
The undertaking application submitted by a sponsoring group or organization
on your behalf has been accepted. You must now submit an application for
a Certificat de sélection du Québec
(CSQ – Québec Selection Certificate) application. To be able
to come to Québec, you must meet the criteria of both the Gouvernement
du Québec and the Government of Canada.
-
Preparing before departure to make your integration
into Québec easier
You will soon be leaving for Québec. If possible, take advantage of
the waiting time before your departure to get
prepared and informed. This will
help make your integration into Québec society that much easier.
-
Proceeding to the Immigration-Québec office
upon arrival at the airport
You have arrived at your destination. Read this section for a brief overview
of the reception formalities that await you.
-
Taking steps to integrate successfully into
Québec
The Gouvernement du Québec and several of its partners will help
guide you through the various steps of your integration
process.
-
Bringing your spouse or children to Québec
You have been in Québec for less than one year. The spouse or children
you listed on your immigration application were unable to accompany
you at the time of your departure. There are specific procedures for bringing
your spouse or children to Québec.
