Obligations as an employer

The employment contract describes the employer’s obligations to the foreign worker. These include:

  • Providing decent living conditions by supplying meals and a private room that is properly furnished, heated, ventilated, and equipped with a working lock.
  • Providing a key to the residence.
  • Paying the salary at the agreed-upon frequency, as well as making the deductions and paying the fees prescribed by law.
  • Facilitating access to French courses outside normal working hours.
  • When stated in the contract, paying transportation costs of the foreign worker between her country of residence and the place of work (round-trip ticket).

  • Complying with all provisions of the Act respecting labour standards.
