Low-skilled worker (other than seasonal agricultural worker)

You can come to Québec to fill a low-skilled position (Skill Level C or D under the National Occupational Classification), other than in the agricultural sector, when an employer has an employment offer for you approved.

Procedure

Follow the steps indicated in the general procedure to obtain the necessary authorizations to work in Québec on a temporary basis.

Note that your employer must:

  • cover all recruitment costs related to your hiring
  • pay in full your roundtrip airfare
  • sign with you an employer-employee contract (PDF, 84 Kb) outlining your wages and duties, among other things
  • help you find suitable, affordable housing
  • provide medical coverage until you are eligible for provincial health insurance coverage by the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec
  • register you with the Commission de la santé et de la sécurité du travail.
