Change of address

To use this service:Access to service
Purpose of the service:To notify Revenu Québec of a change of address
Users:Individuals, individuals in business (self-employed persons), corporations, partnerships and other legal persons
Conditions for use:None

In most cases, a change of address is made in Revenu Québec's files immediately. If Revenu Québec cannot make the change immediately, the acknowledgment of receipt you receive at the end of the process will specify the processing time required to make the change.

Please take note of the confirmation number indicated in your acknowledgment of receipt in order to follow up on your request. To do so, you may use the service Viewing the status of your request or contact the Revenu Québec office nearest you.

Note
In certain cases, mailings of remittance slips and forms are prepared in advance. This means that, if a mailing has been prepared before Revenu Québec is notified of your change of address, a document may be sent to your old address.

Procedure

If you are an individual or an individual in business, you must have on hand your most recent Québec income tax return. You will be required to enter:

  • the postal code of the home you are leaving
  • the amount from line 199 of the most recent income tax return for which you received a notice of assessment from Revenu Québec
  • your support-payment file number, if you pay or receive support through Revenu Québec

In the case of a business (other than one carried on by an individual in business), you will be required to enter:

  • your social insurance number

  • your first name
  • your date of birth
  • your home postal code

The Service québécois de changement d'adresse

If you intend to use both change-of-address services (the Québec government's and Revenu Québec's), do not complete the section concerning Revenu Québec when using the Québec government's online change-of-address service.

Change of adress

Municipal amalgamations

Despite the fact that a number of municipalities were amalgamated on December 31, 2001, you must not change your mailing address until notified otherwise in writing by Canada Post. The premature use of a new town or city name could result in a delay in delivery because many different streets within the new municipalities have similar names.

If your address has changed subsequent to a municipal amalgamation and you have not moved, do not inform Revenu Québec of your new address. Your address will be updated automatically.

Requirement of registration

If you are subject to the registration requirement under the Act respecting the legal publicity of sole proprietorships, partnerships and legal persons, you must inform the Registraire des entreprises of your change of address.

Note
Within the limits set by the Act respecting the Ministère du Revenu, Revenu Québec may communicate information about you to other government departments or agencies.
