The SAAQ is a legal person established in the public interest within the meaning of the Civil Code of Québec and it has the rights and privileges of an agent of the government. It is managed by a board of directors comprised of 12 members, including a chairman and vice-chairman, who are appointed by the government. The chairman is also the corporation’s Chief Executive Officer.
The SAAQ offers an integrated management model, the purpose of which is to protect individuals. This model applies to three areas: prevention, control and repair.
The Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec comes under the authority of Québec's Minister of Transport.
