The Conference Board of Canada's Index of Consumer Confidence for Ontario rose 3.4% in April, following a 0.6% increase in March. Since December of 2005, the Ontario consumer confidence index is up nearly 10%.

Ontario real GDP grew at a 2.8 per cent annual rate in the third quarter (July to September) of 2005. Growth was led by strong machinery and equipment investment expenditure, solid household spending and a rebound in exports.

Ontario employment increased by 6,900 in June. This is the fifth consecutive monthly increase. Over the first six months of 2005, Ontario has gained 76,300 jobs compared to the same period last year.
