Québec guest of honour at Christmas market in Liège

Year in, year out, the Village de Noël in Liège, Belgium, draws over a million visitors. For the 20th edition of the Christmas market, the organizers have invited Québec to take part as a guest of honour. Throughout December, people from Liège, the rest of Belgium and around the world will have a chance to buy Québec products and handicrafts. The market is an opportunity to hunt down original gifts — and a great excuse for an array of outdoor activities.

As visitors stroll through the market’s 190 wooden cottages, they will have no trouble picking out Québec’s “village within a village,” with its authentic sugar shack and eight-metre-tall tepee illustrating North American Indian culture.

Québec’s participation in the Liège event will also feature a cultural program. Among other things, it will include an exhibition dubbed “Le Québec au naturel,” showcasing aerial photographs of some of Québec’s most beautiful landscapes, by Pierre Lahoud. Québec movies will also screen in Liège throughout December.
