* The Energy Efficiency Office (EEO) is responsible for developing and co-ordinating the implementation of an energy efficiency and conservation strategy for Toronto. This is in response to the City's commitment to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 20 percent, relative to 1988 levels.

Some of the initiatives the EEO has undertaken to reach this goal are the Better Buildings Partnership, the Better Buildings New Construction Program and creating the Energy Plan.

* * PV at the CNE
The largest solar photovoltaic (PV) installation in Canada, a 100 kilowatt solar photovoltaic installation on the rooftop of the Horse Palace at Exhibition Place was unveiled during the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) Green Day event on August 22, 2006. The installation will supply power to the Exhibition Place and is only a pilot project for a 1.5-2 megawatt solar photo-voltaic installation also planned at the same location. The project is partially funded by the EEO's Better Buildings Partnership.
