Child Seat
True or False? A child held in an adult's arms is safe in a moving vehicle.
Answer: False
In a collision at 50 km/h, a child is thrown toward the point of impact with a force equivalent to 35 times body weight.
That child whose weight is 10 kg (22 lbs), for example, will in effect exert a force corresponding to 350 kg (770 lbs), much beyond the ability of an adult to restrain even if the exact moment of impact were known in advance.
