Québec cinema in the past four years has been on a roll, achieving record-breaking shares of the domestic box office, an Oscar for Denys Arcand’s Les Invasions barbares, and international distribution for successes such as La Grande Séduction and C.R.A.Z.Y..
This major conference seeks not only to examine the texts and contexts associated with this current phenomenon, but also to establish a balance-sheet of the forty or fifty years of Québec cinema’s existence as such. The conference will also be concerned to look at Québec cinema in its international context, and contributions are actively sought on its Atlantic, including Scottish, dimensions.
