Our services

The Délégation générale du Québec à Bruxelles was established in 1972 to help extend Québec's influence and promote its interests in Belgium, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, and within European institutions.
 

Mandate of the Economic Affairs

  • Increase the number of Québec exporters and the volume of exports to Benelux;

  • inform companies about fluctuations in the various economic sectors and business opportunities in Benelux.;

  • encourage partnerships with companies in the region;

  • maintain ties with the head offices of Belgian, Luxembourg, and Dutch companies established in Québec;

  • develop a network of economic contacts in Benelux;

  • In cooperation with Québec partners, promote Québec's economic influence in the territory covered;

  • monitor changes in European Union economic policies and determine their impact on Québec;

  • track and report on changes in trade policies, practices, and techniques in the target territory to Québec organizations, companies, and government.

Mandate of the Bilateral Affairs

  • Develop, coordinate and maintain relations with various political and administrative authorities from the Benelux countries;

  • prepare missions to the Benelux countries for Quebec political figures and, when required, help organize visits from political figures from the Benelux countries;

  • help Quebec institutions and/or agencies prepare missions to promote Quebec’s interests;

  • develop cooperative relationships between Quebec and Benelux institutions, notably in terms of higher education and training, research, science and technology;

  • ensure the implementation of all cooperative agreements already concluded between Quebec and the regio’s or communities of Belgium, Belgium, Luxembourg and of any other agreement which can occur with one or the other of the three Benelux countries.

Mandate of the European Affairs

  • To monitor work done by European institutions in areas relevant to Québec’s competencies and interests;

  • to develop, coordinate and maintain contacts with European Union institutions and other European authorities, including the Council of Europe, and with regional associations such as the Assembly of European Regions and the Conference of European Regions with Legislative Power (REGLEG);

  • to host and organize missions to European institutions for political personalities and representatives of institutions and organizations from Québec, and where necessary to assist in organizing visits to Québec by representatives from European institutions;

  • to ensure that Québec plays an active role in cooperative initiatives involving Canada and the European Union;

  • to watch and analyze the development of European institutions and European multi-region institutions.

Mandate of the Communications and Public Affairs

  • Present as accurate and complete a picture of Québec as possible in the region and to European institution;

  • develop effective communications tools (newsletters, Website, press reviews), distribute information at public events, provide assistance to researchers, make available a wide range of sources of information on Québec;

  • identify opportunities and take steps to promote Québec in the academic and knowledge communities; collaborate with centers for Québec and Canadian studies;

  • handle press relations with media representatives and press agencies; assist journalists;

  • coordinate the communications and public affairs aspects of visits by Québec political figures; facilitate their access to media and public forums.

Mandate of the Culture Service

  • Promote and disseminate Québec culture in Benelux;

  • promote awareness of Québec's artistic output among the arts community and foster the organization of cultural events;

  • support Québec artists and groups by planning promotional activities and backing their prospecting initiatives in every sector of the arts community.

Mandate of the Immigration Service

  • Provide information on immigration procedures and select the candidates most likely to be accepted for settlement in Québec;

  • issue Québec selection certificates granting access to permanent resident visas.
