Everyone wants a safe, reliable road network. That is why the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ) devotes sizable resources to road maintenance. But we need you, as an owner of roadside property, to work with us. How? Simply by preserving the road corridor1, especially the right-of-way.
Matters regarding the issuance of transport permits (bulk, general or specialized) and the registration of heavy vehicles are under the jurisdiction of the Commission des transports du Québec. Contact the Transports Québec office located closest to the structures or infrastructures involved in the incident from which the claim arose.

Matters concerning air traffic, pilot licences, and the inspection and return of vehicles are under the authority of Transport Canada.
Matters related to driver's licences, vehicle registration, mechanical inspections of vehicles, weighing stations and road checks, passenger road safety and claims concerning bodily injuries in accidents are under the jurisdiction of the Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ). Matters related to the transportation of school children are under the authority of the Ministère de l'Éducation du Québec. 1 A road corridor is a strip of land that varies in width, depending on the type of setting it passes through and the various elements taken into account. It includes, in particular, the right-of-way and the roadway within it, private entrances, advertising signs and lots adjacent to or near the road whose presence or use may have a more or less direct influence on traffic and the safety of road users. |
