Administering a pension plan

Administering a pension plan requires the active participation of all the members of the pension committee. Every member's knowledge, experience and good judgment will help the committee carry out its role by showing leadership and competence.

As a member of the pension committee, you have to know about:

• the nature of the administrative duties incumbent on the committee with respect to pension fund management and day-to-day administration of the plan

• the key administrative players
• the different ways of transferring duties to key people: mandates, delegations and service contracts
• personal liability insurance, which members of the pension committee can demand to carry out its duties.
