A child turns 18

Under the law, just as for all the programs of the Régie des rentes du Québec, a child becomes an adult when he or she turns 18.

When your child is 18 years old, you will no longer receive, if applicable, the child assistance payment or the supplement for handicapped children. Also, your child will no longer be eligible for the orphan's pension or the pension for a disabled person's child.

However, if your child is working, he of she will pay contributions to the Québec Pension Plan, and this will eventually allow him or her to become eligible for the benefits provided for under the Plan.
