Search Help

It is easy to search the B.C. Government’s website. However, because there are thousands of pages of information, you will get better results by following these simple guidelines for using Search:

Use unique search words (not common terms)

By using words that are found only in the document you seek, you will avoid getting irrelevant results. For example:

Use:

Instead of:

Strathcona

park

flu

sick

Use multiple words to reduce unwanted results.

Too many irrelevant results? The more words you use, the fewer documents will be returned. Search will only show documents that have all the words you entered.

Use:

Instead of:

MSP form

form

drivers licence

licence

family bonus

benefit

Use “quotation marks” to identify exact phrases

If you use double quotation marks then you will only get results where those words appear next to each other. For example:

Use:

Instead of:

“residential tenancy act”

residential tenancy act

Use UPPER case to indicate proper names

When you use capitalized words as search terms, only documents with the same word (using capitals) will be displayed. Search terms in lowercase will match words in any case,

Searching for:

Will display web pages about:

kits

first aid kits, tool kits, housing provider kits…

Kits
