Applying to Immigrate to British Columbia

While immigration in Canada is a shared jurisdiction between the federal government and the provinces, the selection and admission of applicants for permanent residence is a federal responsibility, carried out through the department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

We recommend that you contact officials at the Canadian Embassy in your area. Officials in this office will be best able to respond to your direct inquiries.

The ministry has developed a Provincial Nominee Program, as provided for in Annex C of the Agreement for Canada/British Columbia Cooperation on Immigration. The program allows B.C. to nominate a limited number of people and their families for expedited immigration, based on their ability to generate significant economic benefits for the province.
