If a small/medium business wins an RFP, etc posted on the 2010 Commerce site, how long does it take for payment? [concern here was that small businesses cannot wait 90-120 days for payment]

  • After winning a competition, a vendor would have to sign a contract with the RFP issuer. The contract should contain all the terms and conditions of payment, deliveries, etc. The RFP issuer could be VANOC, an Olympic/Paralympic Committee, a Sponsor, a General Contractor, the Government of BC, a Municipality, or a non-profit organization. Each of these organizations has its own policy and practice; hence, payment period may vary from one organization to another. It is important that vendors clearly understand their obligations and entitlements before competing for an RFP and the terms and conditions of the resulting contracts before signing. A vendor’s contractual obligations and entitlements throughout the competition process and the life of the contract are directly with the RFP issuer, NOT the 2010 Commerce Centre.

Why will the Games be a good investment for B.C.?

Hosting the 2010 Games , combined with an expanded Vancouver Convention Center could:

  • -Generate up to $10 billion in economic activity
  • -Create 200,000 person years of employment and
  • -bring in $2.5 billion in tax revenues.

These will be new jobs and money that will arrive in B.C. because of the 2010 Games. Wherever you live in this province, the economic benefits will be felt.

A strong economy will pay for the health, social and education programs that British Columbians want.
